Autoimmune Disease is Tragic, Debilitating, and Frightening. Consider a treatment that includes herbs and natural supplements

Defining Autoimmunity

Because autoimmunity manifests itself in such a variety of diseases and illnesses, it is often difficult to understand that there is a single underlying cause. The body’s immune system sees its own organs as dangerous invaders and begins to systematically attack them. Every cell in the body has a component that lets the immune system know that it is a friendly inhabitant. These are called “tags” or “markers.” If that component is missing from the cell, however, the immune system cannot identify the cell as “friendly.” It therefore launches an attack, as if the cell were an illness or disease.

Medical researchers are still not certain exactly how autoimmunity develops, but they suspect that it may be triggered by certain virus infections, stress, poor nutrition, vaccinations and environmental free radicals. Autoimmune diseases seem to present themselves during early adulthood years and are more prevalent in women than in men. Multiple Sclerosis is a prime example of an autoimmune disease which is predominantly found in women.

The tricky part about autoimmunity is that there are at least 80 different diseases which are attributed to it, and finding the correct treatment and/or cure for each of them is extremely difficult.

Diagnosis and Treatment

It is difficult to diagnose autoimmune disease because the symptoms are often those of many other ailments. Diagnosis usually involves several trips to a physician and a large number of tests. Once diagnosed, however, most physicians will begin a variety of standard treatments, usually including interferon, prednisone or methotrexate, all powerful drugs with side effects, especially when taken over the long-term. Further, these drugs are primarily designed to treat the symptoms and do not get at a cure. Biogenetic engineers are currently conducting research on ways to restore the tags or markers on cells, but, as yet, there are no definitive results. It is important to consider other options for autoimmune disease treatment, to include herbs and supplements, which work to treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

Where to Begin

Begin by completing lots of research on your specific autoimmune disease, paying particular attention to researchers who have developed alternative treatments. There are particular researchers who have conducted years of study on autoimmune diseases and who have reached very detailed conclusions about their cause and treatment. The results of research are available for the lay person on a number of internet sites.

The Process of Detoxification

Homeopathic physicians see autoimmunity as a result of the toxic effects of heavy metals in the body. They have identified several heavy metals and the source of their entry into the body, including pharmaceutical medications, recreational drugs, cigarettes, caffeine, pesticides, processed foods, perfumes, household cleaners, and air fresheners, and a host of other commonly used products. When these metals exist in such high quantities, they damage the t-factors of the cells, and the identifiers on these cells are destroyed. The immune system sees them as foreign bodies and attacks.

Detoxification involves ridding the body of the heavy metals, by eliminating all ingredients that put heavy metals of any kind into your body. While this process continues, a regimen of natural herbs and supplements is introduced to restore cell health.

The Natural Herbs and Supplements

The key herbs involved in the restoration of the body’s cell health and immune system are sterols and sterolins. These are plant fats and their derivatives found in fruits and vegetables. While these ingredients have been known since the 1920’s, their medicinal benefits were only recently discovered. These sterols and sterolins are also found in shellfish, unprocessed nuts and seeds. Processed foods destroy all sterols and sterolins, so the body generally does not get enough of them. Along with the herbal treatments, then, a patient would be wise to eliminate all processed foods from his diet and to consume lots of foods containing natural sterols and sterolins. Researching such food products on the Internet is an easy chore.

The effect of this herb and natural supplement for autoimmune disease treatment is that it stimulates the division and reproduction of T-cells in the immune system, without also promoting the production of antibodies which attack cells. In doing this, the immune system is now being stabilized while the heavy metal detoxification continues.

Blind placebo studies promote the contention that sterols and sterolins do in fact relieve both symptoms of autoimmune diseases and appear to prevent recurrence of debilitating episodes.

Purchase of Sterol and Sterolin Supplements

These herbal supplements are available at any health food store and on any herbal supplement website. Most are labeled according to the natural food products from which they have been derived, so that you are assured of getting natural not synthetic supplements.
