Early childhood education
The Division of Early Childhood Education (DECE) of the New Jersey Department of Education has programmatic responsibility for preschool through 3rd grade (PK3) programs. Working with PK3 programs across the DOE, the Division of Early Childhood Education is responsible for the development, implementation, and alignment of program components with a focus on standards, curricula, and assessment.
Early Childhood Special Education Programs
Early Childhood Special Education programs for children ages three to five are part of the special education continuum as operated by the public schools of Illinois. While the Illinois Department of Human Services is the lead agency for special education services for children ages birth to three, ISBE Early Childhood staff act as liaisons to that program.
Early Childhood Initiative
“Good Start, Grow Smart,” the Bush Administration’s early childhood initiative, includes efforts to strengthen Head Start, partner with states to improve early childhood education, and provide information to teachers, caregivers and parents.
Salary Ranges In This Field
Because of the range of careers available to those with degrees in Early Childhood Education, and because of the variety of places in which they can work, the range of salaries is quite wide. In general, however, teachers can expect to make more money in public schools than in private schools, and those who work in the private sector stand to earn more than those who work within the various levels of government.
