A cough, also known as tussis is a sudden, often repetitive, spasmodic contraction of the thoracic cavity, resulting in violent release of air from the lungs, and usually accompanied by a distinctive sound.
The first thing to find out is whether your cough mixture is an antitussive or an expectorant. It cannot be both. One cough mixture does not treat all coughs. If your cough mixture claims to contain both ingredients (and there are some which do), put it back on the shelf immediately.
How to Cure Cough
Below are mentioned some home remedies that have proved very effective in curing your cough problem.
- How to Cure Cough - Mix half a cup of boiling milk and 1/2 a cup of cold soda. Drink this mixture slowly as it will soothe your throat.
- How to Cure Cough with honey - Warm a cup of milk and add one spoon of honey, then drink it slowly. You can also add some butter into it.
- How to Cure Cough with garlic - Natural treatment of Cough - Boil about five garlic cloves in two cups of water; take the cloves out and drink up the warm water.
- Mix a raw egg yolk with a table spoon of sugar, add hot milk and drink it slowly.
- Eat fresh and dried apricots.
- Drink grape fruit juice mixed with a tsp of honey.
- Smear olive oil on the chest to help with the cough.
- Mix half a cup of boiling milk with half a cup of cold carbonated water, drink right away in small sips.
- How to Cure Cough with herbal tea - Drink a lot of herbal tea that will help you evading your cough. You can try Thyme/ Salvia/ Hyssop/ Fennel/ Eucalyptus/ peppermint. Pour 1 cup of boiling water on 1 teaspoon of Marjoram, wait for 5-10 minutes and drink. Repeat 3 times daily.
- How to Cure Cough with thyme leaves - Blanch 50gm of thyme leaves in one liter of water, cover the head with a towel, band over and breathe the steam.
- Cook 100 gm of grind ginger root in 1 liter of sweet wine, strain and drink three tablespoons daily to decrease the coughs.
