Hair loss, dermatologist

| When should I go to consult a dermatologist? My hair started to fall out when I was 16 years old, after a severe period of stress for over a year. I had and have several patches where hair doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t grow back. Back in those days, my mum use to tell me that my hair will grow back. It did a little bit, but it never grew back completely. The severe itchiness of my scalp has disappeared, but from time to time it does come back. Approximately 1.5 year ago I had another severe stressful situation which has ended in a severe depression. I am currently in counselling and I am much better but due to this episode, I have lost more hair that is not growing back. When I was young, I was one of those kids who had so much hair, now I am losing confidence because I can see all those patches without hair. My question is: Can a dermatologist help me? What can I do? Where can I seek help? I would be very thankful for any answer. Thanks. |
